Non-Objective Painting & Works on Paper

Chris Metze creates art that occupies the vast aesthetic space between realism and abstraction. He prefers tonalist color schemes in cool colors and almost map like arrangements of forms, shapes and colors to achieve his compositional effects. Chris works in a variety of media in order to achieve his vision on canvas and paper.

Chris Metze is a dual citizen of the United States and Canada. Born in 1973, he grew up in both Montreal, Quebec and Brooklyn, New York. He studied painting and sculpture at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, British Columbia. Chris Metze lives and paints in Woodstock, NY.
